Supporting local communities is a core value of Mitolo Family Farms and we are proud to partner with Australia’s leading food and grocery relief organisation, Foodbank Australia. Foodbank works with 2,844 frontline charities and 3,379 school breakfast programs throughout Australia to get over 92 million meals out to those who could use a hand every year. Everyday Foodbank provide food relief to 306,000 households.
In 2023, we donated the equivalent of 2,143,400 meals to people in need. The positive impact of food donation is both short and longer-term, addressing not only immediate hunger, but also contributing to people’s overall physical and mental wellbeing. This helps them to achieve greater resilience in their lives and the potential for a more positive future.
The cost of living crisis and ongoing natural disasters have made 2023 another extremely challenging year. But thanks to your generosity and kindness, those doing it tough have one less thing to worry about. Last year, Foodbank sourced 92 million meals with your support, helping us ensure no one goes without.
Did you know that in the last 12 months, 60% of food insecure households had someone in paid work? Or 383,000 more households struggled to put food on the table this year than in 2022. On top of this, 2.3 million households in Australia experienced severe food insecurity.
Foodbank is addressing Australia’s hunger crisis by supplying more food and groceries than ever to charities for distribution to those needing it. Foodbank restores hope to people who are struggling while also tackling Australia’s $36.6 billion food waste problem. They do this by rescuing and sourcing food and groceries from farmers, manufacturers and retailers and distributing it through their charity network nationwide for individuals and families in need.
